HOW FUPRE SUG PRESIDENT BOLDLY ADDRESSED THE GOVERNOR OF DELTA STATE - SEN. DR. IFEANYI ARTHUR OKOWA BEFORE THE MEDIA

13th July, 2018 that the road master of Delta State, the smartest and the most student friendly governor in the nation commissioned the Ugbomro road that transcends FUPRE as an institution.

Addressing the press, the SUG president of Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun (FUPRE) Delta state, Sen. Comr. Ohanwe Emmanuel.

Appreciated the governor for his magnanimity and developmental acumen to construct a road that has been abandoned for donkey years, the president noted that the existence of this road has reduced the cost of transportation and increase the commercial activity in the community, it's important to note that since the days of our grandfathers that our generation is fortunate enough to have witnessed the construction of the Ugbomro road in Uvwie LGA which cuts across FUPRE entrance.

The accessibility brought by this new road has given FUPRE a new image and shape.
The 7th democratic executive President of FUPRE SUG, Sen. Comr. Ohanwe Emmanuel. I. beckoned on the governor of Delta state, his excellency Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa to remember and attend to a proposal that was sent to his exalted office last year November, 2017, proposing to the governor to help complete a relaxation centre for the students, the 25 page proposal is detailed with sophisticated design and quotation. All we ask, is the state presence in our institution.

It is also important to note that without the knowledge of the governor, students in FUPRE out of the love they have for the governor have named a relaxation centre after him, The relaxation centre according to the president will be named "Okowa relaxation centre", but the students are stalked financially, they don't have the financial buoyancy to complete the project, currently the project needs a financial intervention, this relaxation garden will house two conspicuous portraits of the governor, the project stands to empower over 50 students, ranging from horticulturist, cleaners, food vendors, receptionist, security guard, student entrepreneurs pr, Health club experts, chefs, janitors etc, all these will be monopolised to just the working class student alone.

The president also made it clear that the relaxation centre is a multipurpose project, it will accommodate exhibitions of student indigenous innovations as FUPRE is known for, staff meetings, rehearsals, student picnic and also a gym
centre as an annex to the relaxation garden.

The president outlined the aims and objectives as:
1. To reduce trauma amongst deterred hearts.
2. To solidify the physical presence of DIFO (Delta Initiative Forum for Okowa).
3. To have a level ground to institutionalise peace between the community and institution.
4. To revamp the social hemisphere of the institution.
5. To inspire and provoke creativity in students by pictorial display of
compatriots, inventors and how they shaped the world.
6. To enhance recreational activities in school and promote the exhibition of local content.
Over 7000 Nigerian students with an undergraduate status in the only Federal University in Delta state, cry out to the governor to come complete a relaxation garden that was named after him- "Sen. Dr. Okowa relaxation centre", so we can immortalise the governor's image and nomenclature for unborn generations.
Signed:
Sen. Comr. Ohanwe Emmanuel. I.

I acknowledge the fact that many of us have numerous burning questions that beg for answers regarding our struggle in the association, but, this is of course, natural to any people bound together by common interest and purpose in a quest to achieve set goals.

My Powerful senators, stakeholders, senior cadres and elders, ever gallant Nigerian students, and fellow comrades; whatever the challenges are today, we can still rise up in unity and pursue our ultimate dream.

As I humbly ask for your mandate to become the Chairman of our beloved association, I will like to draw our attention to, not what an individual can bring, but, to what we as a people can build; to not what an individual has got, but to what together in unity we can give.

As I seek the privilege to serve as the Chairman of NANS /JCC Delta State Axis; I am counting on your demonstrated collective integrity,

Our Journey so far in NANS /JCC

"Our journey so far in NANS /JCC Delta State Axis"

Dio Oghale Emeka Rex (SAP, SANS)

Men are known for their antecedents and achievements, during my stay in office serving as the Director of Action and Mobilization/ Chairman; Committee on Campus Affairs for a period of one year, I participated and led series of struggle in favour of the entire Nigerian Students and for her betterment and worked immensely for the total emancipation of the entire Nigerian students in Delta State, the zone and Nigeria at large.

In my quest for building an egalitarian environment and agitating for good governance that will be suitable for the entire Nigerian students in the state, I was opportuned to attend various NANS function, within the state, the zone and Nigeria.
As the Director of Action and Mobilization I dedicated all my time to the Nigerian students in the state and participated in various NANS struggle, to mention but few are;

- Participated in the NANS National protest against JAMB low cut off mark.

- Participated in the NANS National protest against Federal Government and ASUU asking them to open our class room.

- Participated in the UNIPORT 12/ #LALE_MUST_GO struggle.

- Led a protest to shut down all South Africa firm in the state against the Xenophobic attack on Nigerians in South Africa.

- Led a protest to the state Government against the menace of the Fulani Herdsmen.

- Led a protest against the school fee increment in Delta State College of Physical Education, Mosogar.

- Called for a protest against the management of DELSU Abraka against it refusal of refunding back money to the students who paid the school fee as at when it was increased, and later I was called upon  for a round table discussion which led to the refunding of the fee back to the  affected students.

- Released the SUG Speaker of DSPZ from police station and led a protest demanding the removal of the Dean students affairs for the unjust arrest of the union speaker.

- Releasing from police station unconditionally the students who are wrongly arrested for offense they know nothing about.

- Partnered with the office of the EA to the Governor on entertainment in organizing the Delta unity concert, a program that brought the upcoming artists in our various campuses to perform and showcase their talents, and where signed by different music and comedy stars.

- Led a delegation to the commissioner of police, demanding he should call his men to order to stop the unlawful arrest of our students and harassment.

- Attended series of NANS zonal and  national senate meetings.

- Led a delegation to various motor parks demanding for reduction in price tag.

- Participated in the shouting down of fuel stations selling above the fuel pump price.

- Observed so many successful SUG elections in the state and across the zone.

- As the Director of Action and Mobilization, in communicating with the students and reaching out to them easily, I had a liaison officer across the 14 campuses in the state which made up the committee on campus affairs of which I was the chairman.

- Attended NANS functions, senate meetings, pre-convention  and convention of the zone and other zones.

- Led a delegation to the Provost of DELSU oleh campus, demanding a proper investigation of a student who was attacked and shoot by arm robbers and the management was trying to mistake the boy to be a cultist and was attacked by other cult group members.

- Led a delegation to the commissioner of police, demanding he call his men to order to stop extorting money from our public transportation rather to do her work diligently.

- Organized a sensitization program across some of our campuses on the need to shun cultism and campus vises/ say no to drugs campaign.

- Always standing tall to give the Nigerian students a voice, standing against the unnecessary victimization of our students most especially the students leaders.

All this among others was achieved by the unalloyed and undying support of the Nigerian students in the state, senators, fellow alutarians, elders,  senior cadres and major stakeholders of our association.

I'm seizing this medium to solicit for that same support, for continuity to pilot the affairs of the organization as the apex leader, for the total emancipation of the entire Nigerian students in the state and bringing back power to the students.

Now is the process for transition and serious demand has been knocking the door for us to push forward, but we believe leadership is not all about ambition but total submission to the will and voice of the people.

It is on this note I want to take a bold step by answering the clarion call of service to humanity by piloting the affairs of the association (NANS/JCC DTS Axis) as the apex leader in head of affairs of the association because people believe I can do better if given the opportunity.

Distinguished Senators of our dear association, Senior Cadres, Elders and Stakeholders and fellow Nigerian Students, please mobilize, support, pray and vote for Dio Oghale Emeka Rex (SAP, SANS) as the CHAIRMAN, NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIAN STUDENTS / JOINT CAMPUS COMMITTEE(NANS/ JCC DELTA STATE AXIS).

Isha Aluta we shall get there, but let's step up the Continuity Agenda.
