NANS: Doctorate Degree On Governor Dankwambo Undeserving ***Described the Governor to be Anti-Student - Dio Oghale Emeka Rex (SAP, SANS, MOFR) Reporting from Campus Reporter Media

NANS: Doctorate Degree On Governor Dankwambo
Undeserving
***
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS),
has described the Honorary Doctorate Degree Conferred on
Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo of Gombe State by
the Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado Ekiti as
“undeserving”.
President of the apex students’ body, Comrade Aruna
Kadiri, who lamented on the “deliberate act of terror”
meted on Nigerian students by the governor through his
Chief of Staff during the inconclusive 2016 National
Convention of the association in Gombe, says the
governor is an enemy of NANS.
“Governor Dankwambo is an enemy of NANS. He
unleashed terror on Nigerian students during the 2016
National Convention held in Gombe, terminating it halfway.
Therefore the honorary doctorate degree conferred on him
by Ekiti varsity is undeserving,” Kadiri stated.
The former Accountant General of the Federation was also
the main figure who engineered the current faction in the
apex students body.
NANS which has earlier declared “personal non granta on
him in all our Campuses” demanded that “Governor
Dankwambo should honourably relinquish the undeserving
degree.
“We have declared personal non granta on him in all our
Campuses and it still stands. NANS under my watch will
take this fight to his door steps and expose the real
person he is. We call on him to relinquish the degree ”
President Kadiri added.
NANS makes it clear that the “calls to relinquish the
degree” will continue trending on social media, print
media and electronic media until he returns the
undeserving award conferred on him.
The association also makes it categorical clear that any
school that conferred on him such honour again will
receive the wrath of NANS, declaring Governor Dankwambo
unfit for any award consideration.
The governor, alongside Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu
Sanusi II; Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, and House
of Representatives member, Oladipupo Adebutu, were
honoured with honorary doctorate degrees on Saturday at
the grand finale of the 22nd Convocation of the
aforementioned citadel of higher learning.

NANS President Secures Release of Detained UniLag Students, Calls For Sack of VC

The President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comr. Aruna Kadiri, has just secured the unconditional release of the 13 students of UniLag been detained at the Kirikiri Prison on court order.

The detained students were arraigned before a Mobile court at Oshodi tax office following their arrest on March 31 for alleged “riotous invasion” of TVC television station in Lagos, protesting the alleged rustication of one of their students, visually-impaired Lawrence Success, for criticising the institution’s management. According to prosecuting counsel, Effiong Asuquo, the students also invaded the main campus of the University of Lagos, Akoka, and had disrupted normal activities in the institution.

Reacting, the student apex body led by its President paid a courtesy visit to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Ibrahim K. Idris, on Tuesday April 04 at the Louis Edet House, Abuja, demanding their unconditional release which the Police boss assured him.

After the courtesy visit, the revolutionary leader of NANS then proceeded to Lagos in solidarity with the hundreds of protesting Nigerian Students demanding the immediate release of their colleagues.

The request was granted today Thursday April 06, just as IGP Idris assured President Kadiri on Tuesday April 04. The 13 students were unconditionally release from detention.

In view of this, The President Kadiri led administration want to seize this opportunity to commend Zone D comrades most especially Lagos axis, IGP Idris, Lagos State Government and all comrades for this victory.

Secondly and most importantly, NANS calls for the immediate sacking of the aforementioned citadel of learning Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Rahmon Ade Bello, as he has proven beyond reasonable doubt of his lack of competence to manage the affairs of the school.

We want to assured Nigerian students that our administration is fully committed to the struggle for the greater good of all. Political victimization of students as usual will continuously be viewed by the Kadiri led Administration as a direct confrontation of NANS and a deliberate attempt to test our might.

Our administration is very passionate about the plight of politically victimized students! Wherever they exist, we shall deploy all at our disposal in ensuring their reinstatement. Restoring their rights and liberties is one of our main policy thrust. “An Injury To One Is An Injury To All”.
Viva Aluta!

COURT SET FREE THE 13 STUDENTS OF UNIVERSITY OF LAGOS (UNILAG) - Dio Oghale Emeka Rex (SAP, SANS, MOFR) Reporting from Campus Reporter Media

COURT SET FREE THE 13 STUDENTS OF UNIVERSITY OF LAGOS (UNILAG

The 13 students of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), who were detained in Kirikiri Prison on the order of Special Offences Mobile Court, in Oshodi for protesting against the school management, have been set free.
The students who have been in prison since Saturday were set free on Thursday morning. They had earlier been arrested on the university campus while protesting the suspension of a visually-impaired student and demanding the reinstatement of all suspended student activists were supported by other students present at the court vicinity chanting solidarity songs before and after the court session.
The police had claimed that the students were arraigned for “riotous invasion” of Lagos-based Television Continental, TVC. But the management of the station has since denied the allegations, saying the students were peaceful in their conduct.
The counsel to the students, Inibehe Effiong, said the release was subject to Section 211 of the Nigerian constitution.
“The trumped up charges have been struck out and we salute the Lagos State Government for this,” he said.
One of the 13 students, Aina Tomi, disclosed that the students would institute a legal suit against the Lagos state Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni.
“We will institute legal action against the commissioner in the next couple of days,” he said.
Earlier this week, the university management had denounced the students saying some of them had been rusticated from the school while others were not students of the institution.
Also, several groups including the National Association of Nigerian Students and Education Rights Campaign had condemned the detention of the students.

NANS SENATE CONDEMNS THE UNLAWFUL DETENTION OF TWO UNILAG ACTIVISTS AND SOME OTHERS STUDENT’ ACTIVISTS A STRUGGLE TOWARDS THEIR UNCONDITIONAL RELEASE. - Dio Oghale Emeka Rex(SAP, SANS, MOFR) Reporting from Campus Reporter Media

NANS SENATE CONDEMNS THE UNLAWFUL DETENTION
OF TWO UNILAG ACTIVISTS AND SOME OTHERS
STUDENT’ ACTIVISTS
A STRUGGLE TOWARDS THEIR UNCONDITIONAL RELEASE
It is instructive to note here that freedom will not be
voluntarily given by oppressors; it must be demanded by
the oppressed. Based on the above transparent veracity,
the NANS Senate under the leadership of Comrade SALAM
Oyejide is confidently pleased to inform the entire student’
communities of its displeasure at the prevailing
oppressions and victimization directed at some student’
activists; Femi Adeyeye and others.
These students’ activists, as revealed by several media
organizations, had been dragged before a kangaroo
magistrate; and detained at Kirikiri prison with no chance
of bails.
The use of the word “kangaroo” was never meant to
subject Nigerian legal institutions to open humiliation or
public molestation. It just acidly pains when the court
which political scientists called “the last hope of a
common man” has unfavorably metamorphosed to “a last
doom of a common man”.
There is little chance for perambulation; we solemnly
commend the articulate interventions of NANS Lagos State
and the South-Western zone of NANS. Let them contribute
our relentless efforts; allow us key in our restless
intellectual combat and agility into practice; and together
we shall achieve the common freedom under overzealous
and enthusiastic pursuits.
The NANS Senate under the leadership of Comrade SALAM
Oyejide uses this golden opportunity to declare a state of
emergency; purposely to be channeled to conquer the lack
of civility and nobility characterized by the Management of
University of Lagos (UNILAG).
We are set to occupy not only the prestigious institution
whose prestige has been put under threat through the
some forms of oppressions, victimization and dictatorship;
we shall occupy Lagos State; with this, we shall be rest
assured that the world would hear about our cries for
freedom and total emancipating sanitation and purification
of student’ communities.
Conclusively, the NANS Senate under the leadership of
Comrade SALAM Oyejide has set a targeted goal of
occupying Lagos State on Thursday; with the sole
impression that arms folded will be idled enough not to
effect any positive change. We shall not kowtow in their
powwow.

Comrade SALAM Oyejide

NANS NEED TO CALL FOR THE IMMEDIATE REMOVAL OF UNILAG VC. - Dio Oghale Emeka Rex (SAP, SANS, MOFR) Reporting from Campus Reporter Media

NANS NEED TO CALL FOR THE IMMEDIATE REMOVAL OF UNILAG VC.

He who makes peaceful change impossible, will make violent change inevitable.

This issue should not be an issue that Nigerian students should take with a levity hands. We have thousands of criminals who are outside there ruling us and yet we they have not been detained or convicted: It takes months to arrange corrupt leaders in court but it takes 1hr to arrange those who are fighting criminals and leaders in the presence of corrupt and heartless judges.

NANS should not only demand for the release of the 13 UNILAG detainees but also demand for the removal of those idiots, heartless and inhuman professors who calls themselves head of citadel of learning were ideas and good leadership needs to be impacted on the future leaders.

My candid opinion to NANS leadership is to petition NJC on these matter; I might not be a lawyer but I know that the charges are bailable offence which the Barbaric Judge had to ruled to remind them in kirikiri till 6th of April. If Buhari government truly stand for justice, then with this I will know.
