PRESS RELEASE: MILITARY BRUTALITY OF STUDENTS IN ABRAKA, TOTALLY UNCALLED FOR.- Dio Oghale Emeka Rex(SAP,SANS,MOFR) Reporting from Campus Reporter Media

PRESS RELEASE: MILITARY BRUTALITY OF STUDENTS IN ABRAKA, TOTALLY UNCALLED FOR.

The Presidential Forum, Faculty of the Social Sciences, Delta State University, wishes to officially condemn in strongest possible terms, the brutalization of students of the Delta State University by men of the Nigerian Army attached to the 222 Battalion, under the operation codenamed 'Operation Delta Safe'.

It is rather unfortunate that soldiers paid by the tax enumerations of we students would digress from their constitutional duty of protecting the territorial integrity of our dear country, to public intimidation of unarmed helpless law abiding students (In contravention of Section 34 subsection 1(a) of the Nigerian Constitution) whose freedom of movement are guaranteed and protected by Section 41 (1) of the Nigerian Constitution.

Worse still, it is most disheartening that soldiers who were deployed to checkmate the excesses of marauding Fulani herdsmen have turned around to attack innocent DELSUITTES who are in no way a threat to public peace. On Wednesday, 22nd March, 2017, two female students were unnecessarily harassed for putting on shorts by men of the Nigerian Army. It still bothers student leaders, Human Rights Activists, security conscious Deltans and lawyers alike that men of the  Nigerian Army attached to the 222 Battalion serving in Abraka are no longer bothered about the security of Nigerians, but about what they wear. We want to know when it became illegal for ladies to wear shorts to reduce the impact of the heat from the scorching sun.

The following day, another Delsuitte, Mr Emmanuel was publicly brutalized for not stepping on the breaks of his car when they wanted him to. Later in the evening of the same day, another student, was flogged mercilessly for returning home a few minutes past 10pm after charging his phone in a friend's house.

Without any successful arrest of those actually perpetuating evil in the students town, the men of the Nigerian Army have recorded huge successes in the violation of the fundamental human rights of the Greatest Nigerian Students which should not be so.

As student leaders, we openly condemn this act, it is not only uncalled for but a total violation of the internationally approved rules of engagements.

We call on the Delta state Government, the Chief of Defence staff, the Chief of Army staff, the Senate Committee on Defence and the Delta state House of Assembly to Duly investigate this acts of inhumanity and ensure that the perpetrators hiding under the uniform are brought to book.

Signed;
Comr Tomi Akporoghene W.

NANS EKITI AXIS STANDS AGAINST PETROL MARKETERS- Dio Oghale Emeka Rex(SAP, SANS, MOFR) Reporting from Campus Reporter Media

NANS EKITI AXIS STANDS AGAINST PETROL MARKETERS

Protocols.
Combatant greetings to all stakeholders, cadres, and ideological leaders across the Nation.
Every accident is a notice that something is wrong with men, methods, or material — investigate — then act. ——circa
Today National Association of Nigeria Student, Ekiti Axis support the action of Ekiti State government against indiscriminate siting of petrol stations across the state.
We consider it sardonic and devilish for Petroleum marketers in Ekiti to site their petrol stations at residential areas and schools across the state most especially primary schools where the majority are the helpless infant.
We should not think because an accident hasn’t happened to you that it can’t happen. Prevention is therefore better than cure.
We should recall the fire outbreak in the state capital sometimes ago, which destroyed the businesses of innocent traders, now imagine if those shops were to be residential buildings or schools, no doubt it would have cleared the lives of many.
The National Association of Nigeria Student Ekiti Axis under the leadership of Com. Owolabi Temitayo frowns totally at this tactles, thoughtless and uncaring act as we believe the PMS marketers focuses more on their profit/pockets than the lives of individuals in the state.
The motive power of the “safety-first” movement is a realization of the fact that lives and limbs need not be sacrificed to any desired result or anyone’s selfish gain.
We therefore call on well meaning individuals and the lovers of our dear state, to join and condemn the incessant and indiscriminate siting of petrol stations across the state.
Ones again PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE
until man dies. Struggle continues…

TOTAL REJECTION OF BARBARIC ACTS DISPLAYED BY THE LEADERSHIP OF SSANIP AND NASU ON MONDAY AND TUESDAY 13TH & 14TH MARCH, 2017 IN THE CAMPUS OF FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC EDE- Dio Oghale Emeka Rex (SAP, SANS, MOFR) Reporting from Campus Reporter Media

TOTAL REJECTION OF BARBARIC ACTS
DISPLAYED BY THE LEADERSHIP OF SSANIP
AND NASU ON MONDAY AND TUESDAY 13TH &
14TH MARCH, 2017 IN THE CAMPUS OF
FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC EDE
By
CAMPUS REPORTER MEDIA

March 24th, 2017.

This institution has always been one to be proud
of, one where decisions are made on a
collaborative basis with the best interest of the
students in mind in which the leadership and
management of the institution were given the
respect and support needed to soar the good
name of the institution.
“In an unjust society, silence is a crime”
It is so disheartening, the steps taken by the
leadership of the SSANIP & NASU of the Federal
Polytechnic Ede to take away the basic needs of
the students that lead to the inconveniency of
the ever peaceful Nigerian Students of Federal
Polytechnic Ede.
It is evident that they want to do everything in
their power to disrupt the peace of the
institution which is one of our glory after
embarking on a week strike that doesn’t have
much effect on the peace of the institution.
Even at the point of the first consultation with
the SSANIP chairman, he boldly said "their
intention is to inconvenient the students and it
was evident in their jubilation after the
management declared a mid-semester break. As
if that's not enough, they went ahead to disrupt
the peaceful registration of the prospective
students that are applying for UTME.
22nd march 2016, a similar scenario was
experienced on campus which truncated the
examination process and every student was sent
home for three weeks. Their latest action arose a
major concern about their general state of mind
(medical check up cannot be overemphasised) in
terms of decision making and lack of respect for
the students of this noble institution. It is
unheard of that they could easily forget that
every student is entitled to a safe, orderly and
peaceful environment. Students will succeed in
an environment that sustains a passion for
learning. Every student has their responsibility as
well as that of the management. Students
succeed best when the leadership of an
institution and the management maintain a
strong partnership at all levels.
If you want your voice to echo to the hearing of
the Federal Government, there are ideological
ways to achieve this NOT by hindering the peace
of the institution and the entire community. If
the range of your bandwidth is not wide enough for your yearning to be heard by the Federal
Government, there are more meaningful strategic
measures to increase your signal strength. If what you are agitating for is legal and your union
is duly recognised by the Federal Government,
why not take your fight to the appropriate quarters.
The student's body is of the opinion that the
leadership of NASU and SSANIP especially the
Chairman SSANIP in person of Mr. Adekanola
Johnson Kayode is a misfit. What do you expect
from someone who does not have cognate
certificate to support students who are not his
mate because he possessed WASC without credit in English and Mathematics.
How on earth has he become a senior staff in
the polytechnic? He has never seen the four-
walls of any higher institution to know the
usefulness of education. We stand to be corrected.

OUR DEMANDS
The management should take the bull by the
horns in order to stop the rascality of these two
Unions for the benefit of Nigerian Students in
Federal polytechnic Ede.
The school should be re-opened for lectures to
continue.
The school should be re-opened for prospective
corp members to continue with their clearance.
The management should investigate the
allegations levelled against the SSANIP
chairman.
The management should put all measures in
place to secure the amenities that are enjoyed
by the Nigerian Students of Federal Polytechnic
Ede.
In the same vein, we appreciate one of our ever
reasonable student for deactivating his angry
mode when things could have turned out bad and
activating a high sense of maturity and also to
the entire students of this great citadel of
learning especially those that are residents of
the school hostels for not allowing themselves to
be lured into the team of “peace disrupters”.
While we await the immediate action of the
management of this noble institution, we implore
all students to continue to be law abiding and we
promise not to swerve from catering for the
welfare of the ever conscious Nigerian students
of Federal Polytechnic Ede.
Pursuant to these reasons, we unanimously
move a motion of no confidence on the barbaric
act displayed by the leadership of SSANIP &
NASU.
God bless Nigerian Students
God bless Federal Polytechnic Ede.
God bless Osun State
God bless Nigeria.

NAPS REJECTS INCREASE IN JAMB REGULARIZATION FEE: CALLS FOR THE REMOVAL OF JAMB REGISTRAR.- Comr One Class Reporting from Campus Reporter Media

NAPS REJECTS INCREASE IN JAMB
REGULARIZATION FEE:
      CALLS FOR THE
REMOVAL OF JAMB REGISTRAR

Education in Nigeria is tilting toward becoming a commercial avenue with standards departing the sector at speed of light, to get educated in
Nigeria today with the obnoxious policies of
educational institutions is synonymous to
getting a debt sentence. Extortionate policies
are made over night at will of institutional
heads, and students bear the pain of meeting up exploitative demands innocently. Virtually
all nooks and crannies of the educational sector need to be touched light by the anti-
corruption war of the federal government
starting from the Joint Admission Matriculation
Board (JAMB).
JAMB dwell in retrogression since the
appointment of a new registrar, contrary to
the positive new turn of event Nigerians expect of the admission board. Professor Ishaq
Oloyede the new registrar has shown in his handling of JAMB, that he has nothing to offer other than his interest in commercializing the
board. In no time of his appointment as JAMB registrar, JAMB regularization fee has been increased by over hundred percent from four thousand Naira to ten thousand Naira, the fraudulent regularization process aim at generating JAMB registration number for students who got admitted without passing
through JAMB has always been met with strong rescission from students as we believe it is a
policy solely designed to squeeze out money
from students purse.
The justification of mere profile updates being charge at a fee higher than the examination
proper is nothing cut short of corruption.
JAMB regularization fee had since become a prerequisite for NYSC mobilization, making it compulsory for all graduating students as such
seventy percent of graduating students fall into the extortion trap.
JAMB is yet to justify why students are to pay for regularization and not the schools that boycotts the admission board to dish out admission at will to proffered
candidate at expense of the admission
regulatory board provided their requirement are fulfilled.
Aiding and abetting of institutions charging at
rates higher than JAMB stipulation and new policy stating ten thousand Naira be charge on alteration of JAMB forms (change of course,
institution, or choice of institution) further
reveals the commercialization motive of professor Oloyede.
Our leadership has lost confidence in the personality of the registrar with his extortive policies, the delay in the conduct of JAMB examination couple with the
fact that he is yet to clear his name from
corruption allegations leveled against him by
ASUU UNILORIN chapter.
Education should not and will not be a debt
sentence. We demand education that will be
accessible by all. We demand the anti
corruption war of the federal government be extended to the Joint Admission Matriculation
Board and the replacement of the registrar within seven days, as all machineries are in
place to mobilize our teaming students to the street to seek justice and put an end to the unjust exploitation of Nigeria students if our
demands are not met.

Delta Central Comrades (DCC) Frown At Gov. Okowa Military-styled Handling Of The NUT Industrial Action.- Dio Oghale Emeka Rex(SAP, SANS, MOFR) Reporting from Campus Reporter Media

Delta Central Comrades (DCC) Frown At Gov. Okowa Military-styled Handling Of The NUT Industrial Action.

Arising from, a fruitful deliberation of Delta Central Comrades (DCC) on the lingering issue of NUT industrial actions and the Governor\'s directive; DCC been a conglomerate of intellectuals whose knowledge base was made possible by these teachers, do hereby resolves as follows that:
Ads

1. NUT is an umbrella body of all teachers, Primary and secondary schools and therefore it is not out of place for it to go on strike for any of its members.

2. The timing of the strike is in no way out of order, as NUT must have been updating the Government of her grievances before this time, and whereas Comrades target Governments, where it pinches most.
Ads

3. That Government is not owing Secondary school teachers, however, there are issues of Inter-cadre transfer, Promotions, amongst others which the Post Primary Education board is allegedly working on.
Ads

4. That the use of directives by His Excellency, The Executive Governor of Delta State, Sen. Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa as a means of settling the industrial action, is rather ill-advised, insensitive, undemocratic and he is hereby advised to seat with NUT to find lasting solutions to their grievances as a Prosperity Governor.
Ads

5. That we also plead with NUT to consider the Students and listen to Government with a bid to settling the matter amicably for the sake of our brothers and sisters. Not forgetting that the Labourer is worthy of his wages.
Ads

6. That Government henceforth should/must be proactive in all Labour matters, to nip in the bud similar occurrence from any other union. That is; grievances arising from any quarter should be painstakingly looked into as prompt as it is humanly possible.
Ads

7. That Government should work with the LGAs to ensure that the Primary school teachers are paid promptly, including all their allowances as may be necessary. Including LGA workers but not limited to them. Notwithstanding the current economic situations. If the Politicians must get their allowances, what should prevent the civil servants from getting theirs?

We consider ourselves as partners in the development of our fatherland by analysing situations critically and contributing our quarters as at when necessary, and within our powers and resources. We are therefore, expecting a more democratic approach towards laying this matter to rest as put forward in our resolutions.

NANS CALLS FOR UNCONDITIONAL REOPENING OF CONCERNED OYO STATE INSTITUTIONS - Dio Oghale Emeka Rex (SAP, SANS, MOFR) Reporting from Campus Reporter Media

NANS CALLS FOR UNCONDITIONAL REOPENING OF CONCERNED OYO STATE INSTITUTIONS

All adorations and praises are due to Almighty God. It is He who drew the structural plan of the world (greatest architect). It is also He who builds the entire world without using a pillar (the most professional builder). He endeavors our existence for the betterment of today; He so deserves our praises.

The entire larger population of the state is aware the staffs of three of our institutions Emmanuel Alayande College of Education (EACOED), Oyo College of Education, Lanlate & Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology  (OYSCATECH), Igbo-ora  have embarked on strike. They have however, willfully decided to embark on this strike basically because of the reduction of subvention by the state government.

While another reason behind this strike as our findings indicated is the delay which some payments have encountered. We are a bit concerned about the cries and agitations of the staff; and as the principle of management corroborated; there should be proper and adequate welfare provisions for one’s employees.

Nevertheless, we are more concerned about preponderance of students who had been thrown out of the four angles of their schools’ walls because of offence that does not belong to them.

Nothing is qualified to deny these innocent students free access to quality, qualitative and quantitative education; after I might have paid my school and other fees? It acidly saddens us as the representatives of all Oyo students to watch our students driven out of their campuses without lawful justification.

We have since the resurrection of this uncanny scenarios contributed our quotas by consulting the State Government (Governor and Ministry of Education), Management of the institutions, Staff Unions, Security Outfits,  SUG Representatives and Stakeholders in the Educational Sectors. We won't conclude it's over when it's not over.

We have hereby considered it nothing but utmost necessity to humbly face this cumbersome challenges and continue to agitate until the victory is achieved. We have however, considered ourselves dutifully challenged to effect the good change; and tell the entire we want our fellow students in their classes.

We have hereby sensitively declared a powerful state of emergency on the closure of these three institutions whose staffs have embarked on strikes. Necessary mechanisms within our possession will be meticulously and prudently utilized to ensure our goal is achieved.

According to Victor Hugo, “there is something much stronger than all armies of the world; and that is an idea whose time has come” (end of quote).

We are pleased to inform you all that reopening of our school is the novel idea that has come; and we will not hang our pen; pause our struggles until this is rendered achievable.

We hereby call on students to maintain peace and tranquility within their local domains or any part of the country the wind of the strike might have directed them to.

They should play their own roles in assisting the authority of the state NANS leadership because together; we become victorious very soon. Yes, very soon.

Nothing shall discourage us!

RUGIPO ASUP SUSPEND ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES OVER SUG ACTION - Dio Oghale Emeka Rex (SAP,SANS,MOFR) Reporting from Campus Reporter Media

RUGIPO ASUP SUSPEND ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES OVER SUG ACTION
(By: David Fidelis)

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic,  RUGIPO Chapter has suspended academic activities in the institution over what it termed molestation and embarrassment of its members.
The ASUP stated this and made known through it's chairman after a brief meeting yesterday.
"The excos view the molestation and embarrassment met out to members as an affront to our collective integrity which must be restricted. From all indications and consultations from members and stakeholders, the Excos, therefore direct all members to suspend all academic activities until further notice. Pls lets give this directive the widest circulation it deserves. Thank you all as we comply 100%".
It could be recalled that the Students Union Government President and his cohorts went round all lecture class in the campus yesterday mandating to leave the lecture room in order to fast track the early release of their results by all departments in the institution.
Reacting to the ASUP decision,  the Students Union Government President,  Comrade Ayejuyo Temitayo Ezekiel (p. K. a. MOYEN)  says their actions was not meant to embarrass, molest and detriment the lecturers.
Ayejuyo added the decision was clamed upon after serious and consecutive calls by several students that they have been denied the right to check their last session results, and as the students body we believe that is the measure through which lecturers could have time to compute the results.
"  It is the right of the Student to check their results,  know their stand and probably buckle up their belt for the next examination".
Ayejuyo advice students of the institution to maintain peace and tranquility within and around the institution as all hands are on deck to restore peace between  the Union and ASUP.
