Campus Reporter Media - COMR PRECIOUS, NANS JCC DELTA STATE AXIS CHAIRMAN LEADS HIS EXECUTIVES TO THE PRESTIGIOUS INSTITUTION OF COLLEGE OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION, MOSOGAR

Yesterday been the 14th day of March 2017, the leadership of National Association of Nigerian Students/Joint Campus Committee (NANS JCC DELTA STATE AXIS) led by Comr Ogonegbu Precious Chukwunedum visited the Delta State College of Physical Education MOSOGAR.

According to the chairman, he disclosed the reason of their visitation to the institution stating that, first it has been the practice of NANS as the mother and apex body governing all Nigerian students schooling within and outside to know the welfare of the students.

He said the students, through the students union government (SUG) has been complaining about the following

1. The Management order on Students to vacate the school hostels.

2. The increment in the price of text books.

3. The poor running of SUG due to fund challenges.

The Chairman who demanded to know the reason(s) while the management must have taken such decision(s) after breaking down his reasons why they visited.

The management, which was represented by the Deputy Provost (Erhruyodavwe Johnson I.) appreciate the leadership of NANS JCC DELTA STATE AXIS, led by Comr Ogonegbu Precious Chukwunedum as the chairman for coming to atleast hear from the management.

In response to the question(s) thrown to the management by the chairman, the Deputy Provost said that the management asked all students to vacate the hostels in Campus one because they (management) perceived danger in the environment. While speaking, he said the management has started the re-building of the hostels and as soon it is set, the students will be back to stay, saying the management want the students to live in a conducive and save environment, and assured the NANS JCC officials that the management in no distant time, will complete the hostels and the students will be back to a good habitat.

He further said, as that of the increase in text books, that committee has been set up to make sure the interest of the students is protected, saying we all know that everything has increased in price, and more over the text book(s) are printed and the cost of printing as at last year is not the same now, but the management will ensure that the price will suit the students.

The Deputy Provost said that the student unionism in the school is facing financial challenges because there are no student in the institution so the little students they have are the few paying the SUG fee of five hundred naira. The SUG President, Comr Marvin said the management are responsible for the lack of Student in the institution, because the criteria for entry the school for NCE programs is the same criteria for running DEGREE programs so you can't expect any parent to send their child to NCE knowing fully well that Degree is the highest.

The Deputy Provost cut him short stating that it was JAMB who made it not the institution.
Comr Dio Oghale Emeka Rex (SAP, SANS, MOFR) The Director of Action and Mobilization / Chairman; Committee on Campus Affairs asked the SUG President if the Degree students do as well pay the SUG fee, but the President said no. That they were paying before now but the management asked them to stop the payment.

Comr Dio now asked the Deputy Provost their reasons why they stopped the payments.

The Deputy Provost answered saying, the last time when the Degree students paid money into the account of the SUG, it was a war in the school and the Degree students are also agitating for there own Union for they cannot be subjective to the NCE students but the management of the Degree students (DELSU) refused because they have not stay up to four years in the institution.

The NANS JCC Vice Chairman Comr Gift now asked the management to look for a way of helping cum funding the SUG because they need money to enable them run the daily activities of the Union, in addition to it, the NANS JCC ASG Comr Kunle suggested to the management, that they can help fund the SUG if the SUG is having programs by inviting dignitaries to lunch the SUG secretariat, and also the management should as well create room for awareness campaign of the institution therefore going for sensitization move.

After much deliberation, the management agreed to be supporting the SUG pulse with the sum of one(1) hundred thousand naira every semester to enable them carry out there duties.

The NANS JCC Welfare Director Comr Goodluck gave thanks to the management for their understanding and support.

The COEASU CHAIRMAN (Comr Itedjere Charles) who accepted the greeting also gave a vote of thanks to the leadership of NANS JCC DELTA STATE AXIS and prayed for a safe trip back home.
