The Lagos State University Students’ Union Inter-University debate commenced today, tuesday 6th of June, 2017 at the Ajayi Okunnuga Hall, Faculty of Law, Lagos State University.
Six(6) universities across the country competed at the preliminary stage to include; University of Ibadan, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Federal University of Technology Akure, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta and the Lagos State University.
These competitors were divided into teams an they all made their positions known on the issue of discourse.
Rounding up the event, the teams ended with the following percentages of points :
Team A(University of Ibadan) had 62%;
Team B(Lagos State University) had 66%;
Team C (Obafemi Awolowo University) had 63%;
Team D ( Federal University of Technology, Akure) had 52%;
Team E (Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho)had 50%;
Team F ( Federal University of Agriculture,Abeokuta) had 52.3%••
Eventually, Teams : A, B, C and F made it to the grand finale that will hold on Thursday, 8th of June, 2017 at the University Main Auditorium by 10am.
As a bit to round up the debate, students are cordially invited to the grand finale as it will feature political leaders, captains of industry and distinguished members of the corporate world.
Most Importantly, the grand finale topic is on the “NOT TOO YOUNG TO RUN BILL” which is a front burner national issue.
Also on Wednesday, 7th of June, 2017 the school will be having a Career Talk by 1:30pm at the 3-in-1 building, Faculty of Education. The Career Talk which is being propelled by a group of LASU Alumni at Emory University, Atlanta, United States is themed : Dream Big, Take Action and Change The World.
The Kenyan Foreign Affairs Minister – Ms Amina Mohammed is expected to Chair the programme while the Chief Host is the University Vice Chancellor – Professor Olanrewaju Adigun Fagbohun.
