Celebration As Alutanews, 3 Others Win N3.6million UACHD Grant


There was celebration recently at the Lagos office of the Uche Ahubelem Centre For Human Development (UACHD) as the four winners of the December 2016 UACHD empowerment funds were presented with their cheques, as promised. The four winners had emerged victorious, out of over hundred young entrepreneurs who took part in a contest of business wits for a chance to win needed funds to power their startups. Twice in a year, the UACHD organizes a business leadership seminar, the high point of which is usually the competition for grants by young entrepreneurs who register nationwide.

The December 2016 edition of the UACHD seminar was held on the 7th of December, at the Ball Rooom of Oriental Hotel, Lekki, Lagos, with the theme: Leading The Market Leaders, and featured the grand finale of the business funds competition, following initial screenings of over hundred contestants. It was at the grand finale that the four winners were announce, and awarded a total of N3.6million for their efforts. The beneficiaries are : Joseph (who manufactures school pencils from local waste materials), David Agu, Esq. (Founder/CEO, Alutanews.com), Derby (CEO of Deepgreta Fashion House), and Fatima (Fattys Kitchen).

Judges


The event, which attracted hundreds of participants, was hosted by the duo of popular Nollywood actress, Monaliza Chinda, and Wazobia FM OAP, Mr. Yaw. Some of the guests/speakers included the UACHD Founder and GMD of the real estate firm, Brickwall Group, Mr Uche Ahubelem,renowned real estate investor and CEO of Realty Point Ltd, Mr. Gbadebo Adejana, International public Speaker, Fela Durotoye, etc.

Presenting the cheques to the beneficiaries recently in his office, Mr. Ahubelem congratulated the winners and urged them to diligently utilize the funds for the purpose for which they were granted. Also present at the cheque presentation were the foundation’s trio of Senior Admin Officer, Blessing Alfred, Head of Programs, Chike Egemole, and PRO, David Eddy. The winners emerged based on the innovativeness of their ventures, the overall impacts on the society, and their job creation prospects.
